Hi my name is Joe Dettelis. I am  an American citizen who was forced to defend myself against criminal accusations from a federal detention facility. I was locked up there and various other jails and holding centers for 31 months just based on accusations. I was not tried or convicted of anything beforehand. The only pretense for this "pretrial detention" was the prosecutor's alleged and unproven, fraudulent claim of "flight risk." A far fetched claim considering I live only a few miles from the Courthouse where the trial took place. The actual accusations brought against me could not result in a sentence of any more than between ZERO to 5 years. But only if they had been proved to jurors beyond a reasonable doubt in a constitutionally protected and fair trial framework. They were further limited by federal sentencing guidelines to 12 to 36 months or less. If you are like me and think that government prosecutors have gone way too far, I ask you to support this site.
